I just can’t wait any longer to show you this. I have been working almost a month now, trying to create an inspirational place where I can work. Something that speaks to me. I think I have officially accomplished it!

YAY! There were so many pins on pinterest that got me to this stage. I guess I can start from left to right. On the left is a higher working area inspired by this space from Pottery Barn. I work from home in this room. I need a place to stretch out and spread stuff out while standing. This table was my potting bench and was a messy, unfinished piece of furniture that we had banished to the garage. In came Benjamin Moore to the rescue and tada.

It’s also at the perfect height to use the ball winder I got for Christmas and a newly acquired swift from a friend (thank you, you know who you are!) Look at this set up! When it’s not in use, I simply move it all back to the corner of the table.

Some of my favorite still photos adorn the walls to the left. Above the table is an original art piece I created inspired by this clever closet from Better Homes and Gardens. I used a thrifted frame ($1.00) with fabric I found at the Handkerchief Factory in Exeter NH. They have a whole section upstairs filled with bolts of discontinued designer fabrics that are $6.00/yd on Tuesdays. I was looking for something that would bring a traditional mission style feel to the space. This fabric was perfect. It pulled it all together, giving it a very polished look.

The original idea was to use this as an idea board, so there is cork board behind the frame. Honestly, it made such a pretty work of art, I feel bad pinning anything on it and I think it will stay as is. Moving into the next part of the space is the closet. This ironing board was a major obstacle in my room. It was always set up and had an awful pink cover on it. I wasn’t sure how I was going to “hide” it, so I decided not to. I used an over-the-door towel rack to hang it on the inside of the closet door. Using this tutorial, I created a cover using the fabulous mission fabric and now my ironing board is proudly on display (imagine?)

In the closet is where a lot of the magic happened. This plain white closet has been the home of my sewing machine for quite a while now. But it is also the home to all my office supplies and anything else for work that I don’t want hanging around on desktops. Once I saw this little sewing nook, I knew exactly what I was going to do. I painted the walls to match the rest of the room and I wallpapered the back of the closet with a paper that complimented my mission fabric. I bought a few accessories and organizational items from my favorite junque store and my little space was perfect.

I have also worked on the other side of the room as well. I had some more of my photography blown up to large poster sizes and thrifted a few more cool frames to house them in. I was sure to even add a spot for Mike. I may add a dog bed to the list of “upgrades” for this space.

I’d say this room is just about done. I had to put in a full day of work in this room today, and I tell you, it is so inspirational and beautiful. It almost makes it fun to work…almost.
