Goods on the Yarnie Group

I haven’t posted a post on the yarnie group in a while. We have been growing steadily these days. We have even picked up some crocheters along the way. We have even moved into a nice conference room space at our local meeting spot. Last week there was some spinning going on. Below is some BEAUTIFUL alpaca being spun on a hand spindle.

You would not believe how soft this fiber is. Of course, I like the color. One of the ladies brings her ball winder and swift so that we can all ball up our yarns. This is me winding up my Kool Aid yarn. Much better than hand balling 800+ yards!

Here’s a little before and after of roving, spinning and plyed yarn. I believe this was a merino blend. It too is super soft.

Here is our resident spinner. She brought her wheel in to get some spinning done at group. She is working on spinning yarn for her 3rd homespun sweater! She is actually wearing one she just finished. She is amazing.

I got a lot of winding done. My kool aid yarn and a cashmere/merino blend from my stash.

Although, I am not a great sock knitter, there are some amazing sock knitters in our group. Here’s an awesome pair just finished up.

We are also a group that likes to knit a lot of “trinkets”. These mini purses are perfect for a few quarters for parking meters or spare memory cards.

Always something going on at group. So many women with different tastes, styles and interpretations of patterns. It makes it fun and inspiring to continue knitting. I know I have a lot of knitting followers. Do any of you attend a yarnie group? I’d love to see pictures.

Happy Knitting!

Goods On the Yarnie Group

This yarnie group has been meeting for over a year now.

It’s something I look forward to each week.

I have had other posts on the yarnie groups in the past.

Usually going over all the cool finished objects people have completed.

This week was different than from other weeks. For the first time everyone had just cast on projects.

So I took pictures of hands and project bags.

You never know what’s gonna fall out of a knitters project bag!

Happy Knitting!

Here’s an update on projects being completed at Yarnie group. Lots of Christmas projects to finish up and lots of just plain amazing knits. I may not have all the yarns used down, but I’ll do my best.

A knitted and beadworked scarf…

A beautiful blue “soon to be” cowl.

Beautiful pedicure socks (they have no toes so not to ruin your pedi but still keep your feet warm).

A completed sweater (after a few months of hard work!)

An adorable Giraffe… how cute is this?

Toasty mittens…

A slug, you know, in case you need one. ;)

A cowl made from homespun…

We have a new crocheter in our group – it’s very exciting. Here is a reversible hat she finished.

A reversible egg toy. It’s a egg in a nest, but when you flip the egg inside out, the blue bird pops out. Cool eh?

And the cutest little booties you have ever seen!

Fantastic group projects. I forgot to take a picture of what I am working on. I am still working on my Mother’s sweater, but it is almost done. I plan on completing it tonight. I hope to have some updates on it next week.

Happy Knitting!

The Goods On the Yarnie Group

Monday night was a busy Yarnie Group. Everyone brought their latest knits to show off. This is the “Pattern In My Head” sweater. It a sweater one of the girls had in her head, and now, here it is! It’s beautiful.

This is the owl sweater that has been very popular the last few months. The button eyes will be sewn on later.

This cross cable pattern hat is hand dyed yarn from natural dyes that one of the girl does. She has been known to use hibiscus, jewel weed and black beans. The colors are amazing.

This beautiful tab hat was knit with baby llama. It is so light and soft.

This slouchy hat was made for one of the girls daughters by request. The orange and purple were picked out by her daughter.

These mittens are for the another daughter of the group. How little and cute are they? They are being made with a self striping sock yarn.

These cable mittens were made with hand spun yarn from a drop spindle. The wool is so warm and soft, not itchy at all. There were another “pattern in my head” project. We have a lot of those around this group.

The same lady who made the mittens above, spun this lovely fiber below. Aren’t the colors beautiful?

This purple yarn is what she is currently working on.

Here’s a picture of my WIP, a sweater for my Mom. She requested on made with the same yarn as I made Griffin’s red sweater with. I like the yarn and thought she deserves a sweater!

This is actually a crazy part of our group. One of the ladies has a Newfoundland Dog. They are a very large and hairy dog. We always talk about how our animals shed, and it would save us a ton on yarn if we could spin their fur. This was only joking, of course. Well on one of the Ravelry threads from podcast group (theKnitWits), someone asked if anyone had ever spun poodle. One thing led to another and the lady from our group sent her some Newfie hair. The woman prepped it and spun it. This was the result…

Crazy eh? She actually talks about it on her podcast. If you are interested in the podcast you will find it here.

And lastly a beautiful scarf made from wool purchased at a local fiber festival. It’s another original pattern. Gotta love how this group does not color between the lines!

The Goods On Yarnie Group

Time for a yarnie group update. Summer has been busy. But our yarnie group is going strong.

gravitystorm visited Riverslea Farms before group and bought some nice roving for her hand spinning.

She also finished up this beautiful hat as part of a set she is making for herself for the winter.

She has also adapted the pattern from the hat to create a custom pattern for a matching scarf.

Also in her bag was a sock she has almost finished with Noro sock yarn. nddphoto is working on this beautiful green sweater. This yarn is so beautiful- it is dream in color. She is getting through this sweater pretty quickly, I am anxious to be able to post the finished project.

She is also working on these “Monkey Socks”. Such pretty yarn. This chick can pick out yarn! And she has become the toe up champ.

mapper finished these beautiful socks. The color on these is incredible. She was also working on the cutest blueberry hat, but I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of it. Hopefully I can post it at a later date.

Bicoastalgirl is working on this summery coral sweater. I am not sure how she keeps the pattern right as we all chit chat away! I would surely mess it up!

I was able to separate off the handles on my market bag. Of course I forgot to take pictures of it! LOL! Oh well. I’ll get some up soon!

We also had some new additions to yarnie group this week. We met freckledknits, who is new to our group, but is very active in our online group. As well as a member who has been coming for the last 9 month, but has finally made her debut. Meet Estella…

Too precious for words, right?

The Goods On the Yarnie Group

I did a debrief post a few months ago on our Monday Night Yarnie Group, Connected Loops (on ravelry). It was fun to document all the amazing projects people are working on. I thought I would try to make this a reoccurring post.  I hope you enjoy seeing our latest and greatest WIPs and FO’s. (Rav names are used to protect the not so innocent!)

The Rib and Cable Top

I love this top. Gravitystorm used Comfy Worsted by Knitpicks, colorway Pomegranate. Yep- I TOTALLY need to make something with this yarn!

Socks for Gravitystorm, she is making these all for herself!

She is using DyeDreams Classy Sox, colorway Azure. They are so pretty.

This is a felted piece with needle felting. It is so pretty!

Nddphoto is working on her “nobody puts baby in the corner” sweater. She is using the yarn, Dream In Color Classy, colorway Happy Forrest.

Nddphoto is also working on socks for her hubby. She had this Franconia fingering weight yarn from NHKnittingMama custom died to make a camo pattern. It’s amazing how it’s coming out.

Michellewheeler is working on a sweater for her toddler. She has a wee one on the way and her mother is making a matching sweater to this one for the baby. I can’t wait to see it- I love the seed stitch.

Bicoastalgirl just started a nice summer cotton sweater in this beautiful salmon color.

She is also working on this beautiful scarf. The pictures don’t show the verigation in the yarn. It has pink and purple highlights that are beautiful.

And of course- my “Bar Harbor Hat”.  I used Berocco Prima Cotton and LOVED it. I will definitely buy the Prima yarn again. I completed the hat last night, I will write another post soon on it. I am SO pleased with it and created the pattern myself. It is such a pretty and quick project. The perfect gift for holiday knitting.
