Kindergarten has started for my little guy. It’s amazing to me that time has gone by so fast. Everyone says how fast it goes, but then you are the one walking your little one out to the bus in a moment that doesn’t seem real. Of course, he has jumped in with two feet and is just in love with school and everything about it. His classroom is fantastic and fosters a sense of community. In an effort to make everyone feel a part of the group, each student is assigned a day to bring in the classroom snack. The class has been very busy reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carl and learning all about butterflies. This prompted me to search butterfly themed snacks on pinterest. I came across this pin almost immediately. After a few stops to get the materials, we got to work right away. I say “we”, but I was amazed at the amount of work Griff put into this project.
He quickly took control over painting the clothes pins with glitter markers. It didn’t take him long at all and he was very particular to have a certain amount of each pin with different colors (hummm, type A, like his Mom?) It was quite cute.
We filled the bags with half goldfish and half baby carrots. All I did was fill the bags, the little guy added the clips, antenna and faces to the clothes pins to finish off the butterflies.
Griff brought them to school, served out of his butterfly net, of course. Would you expect any other way?
This was a great fast and fun snack to set up if you are looking for ideas. There can be so many variations. I am now looking for fall snack ideas. Have you come across any? Please share!
