Heavenly Herbs
17 May 2010
My herbs are in. I still have a few more to add, but this weekend at the farmers market I purchased basil, rosemary, sage, chamomile, lemon balm, and dill. If anyone has recipes for herbal tea using chamomile and lemon balm, I am looking. I got a few pictures of the herbs so that I can see how big they get over the next few months. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Mint- Great to have on hand for mojitos!
Sage – always good with chicken
Oregano- great for red sauce!
Rosemary- for my favorite grilled potatoes
Dill- for pickles!
Chives- for everything!
Chamomile – suggestions?
Lemon Balm – suggestions?
Some flowers for good measure.
Such a little space with SO much promise! I am so excited!

Chamomile makes wonderful tea, lovely stuffing for scented bags and a great addition to any salt scrub, foot bath or just plain bath. Lemon balm again makes a soothing tea and is a good addition to popsicles as it is soothing. Generally refreshing it is calming to the mind and body though doesn’t hold the scent massively well when dried. Best enjoyed fresh, a leaf scrunched between the fingers on a summer’s evening will release a scent like no other : ) I love your herb markers btw : )
For a tea you could enjoy singly or a good spoonful of each added to a couple of cups of boiling water would be very calming of an evening.
