Homemade Holiday 2010 – Who’s Quilt

I have been working hard on all my homemade holiday gifts. I have not identified many as such because I want you to be surprised if you are getting it! But this one is going to be a large work in process and I want to share. Griff’s birthday is near Christmas. So what the DH and I decided to do is transform Griff’s bedroom into a “big boy” room. He is already in the toddler bed with Thomas the Train themed bedding passed down from great friends. But we have decided to convert his bed to the full size one, repaint, redecorate and get some new bedding. I wanted to get a quilt. When I started pricing it out for the quality, I wasn’t exactly impressed. SO…I decided to make Griff a quilt. I spent 3 hours on Sunday at Joannes picking out the perfect fabrics. It took forever to find 4 good colors that were the right colors and textures to work. I didn’t want it to be too kiddish, but didn’t want it to be too adult. I think I found a good balance. I have never made a quilt before. I am starting with a simple patchwork with these fabrics…

This will be a new adventure, but I can’t wait to make up his new room! It’s perfect and the perfect homemade holiday 2010 gift!
