New Truth

It’s been a while since I have written a personal post. I’ve been writing about projects, trips and food lately, but haven’t told you much about what’s going on with me. While I write a little, I thought I’d share my self portraits. I remember when there was a self portrait post going around, and I had wanted to participate, but really wanted to learn my camera a bit better before I shot. Well, now I know my way around my camera pretty well and took these shots as a way to celebrate my 35th Birthday.

I know one of these days, I will look back on these images, remembering how good life was and say, gosh I looked so young.¬†Things have been so good the last few years. Life has been challenging, but nothing we can’t handle. I have had this blog for 5 years now, capturing many of the great moments we have experienced along the way. The years have flown by since we started this journey.

I think I gained many of my loyal followers and fellow bloggers through knitting. I have enjoyed knitting right along with my blog, even going through a “crazy” phase of doing nothing but fiddling with the wonderful fibers and sticks. Over the last few months, you may ¬†have noticed less knitting on this blog. This is not because I love knitting any less.

It’s just that my hands hurt. I am not sure why, but they are sore. Maybe it’s from typing to much, or knitting to much…but I really have pulled back from too much of it.

I’ve been trying my hand (no pun intended) at other projects. I’ve started a new quilt for our bedroom, purchasing a cutting machine to make it easier for me. I’ve been enjoying more time in my flower gardens (although, I find too much weeding also bugs me- doesn’t it bug everyone?) Playing a lot with my camera. Working even harder at my martial arts work outs to make my body stronger.

I’ve been concentrating on filling my body with the highest quality and nutritious food to help my body reach it’s best potential. I am hoping this hand pain is just a phase, may from too much typing or too much of one hormone that can be balanced out. Until then, I wanted you to know, that is why you are seeing less knitting. Not because I don’t love it as much as always, it’s just that I need to pace myself.

Nothing major or life changing, but something I wanted to share. Just like these self portraits. I do love black and whites and I love how my nikon captures them. If I haven’t thanked you guys lately for following me, I want to say it now. I’d love to see some self portraits of you. If you have posted them or are going to post them, please link them in the comment page. We’d all love to see. Thank you!

You are one beautiful woman and I am so glad to have found your blog. I’m sorry to hear about your hand and do hope the pain eases off so you can knit, but I think having other projects going is wonderful too.

Me again! I have had pain in my hands for quite a while – some days are worse than others. I started wearing wrist braces while I sleep (and sometimes if I’m having an especially painful day), and it makes a huge difference. I’m not sure if our pain is even similar but thought I should share that anyway.

That is a great point. I forgot I have some wrist braces too. I bet I sleep on my hands. I’ve got to pull them out. Thanks for reminding me!

You look so lovely, inside and out and I’ve greatly enjoyed tagging along on your adventures for the past few years! So sorry to hear about the wrist pain, that’s something that I struggle with as well. It’s so frustrating because my favorite activities — writing, knitting, cooking — are the very things that seem to make them hurt the most. Hope it resolves itself for you!
