I started this wicked (yes, you can tell where I am from) quick raglan sweater last Thursday. I knit Thursday, Friday and Monday and it was done.
It is a size 2T-3T. I purchased the Runaround Raglan by Sarah Fama pattern as inspiration. I love this pattern. It is so cute and simple. It is the best looking raglan pattern I found that could be converted to match what I was looking for. I plan on making this sweater again, true to pattern in the near future.
I omitted the cables and played with the number counts to make it a simple raglan knit in the round. Knitting in the round makes it go SO much faster and for some reason it is really hard to find a “one piece” plain raglan pattern.
I also changed things up with the yarn this time. I really searched for a budget friendly yarn that would wear well, look stylish and still be enjoyable to knit with. A woman at knit group had made a beautiful vest with Caron Simply Soft. I really like how it looked. I was amazed to find it in the store for less than $4 a skein. This sweater took less than one skein!
I was pleasantly surprised with this yarn. I really enjoyed working with it and actually think I will make a sweater for myself with it. No worries though, I can’t quite give up my cashmeres and alpacas, but it may help my budget so I can afford more of the fine yarns!
